The competitve gaming world was dealt a devastating blow over the weekend as Jacob Townsend tore his ACL on a routine jog. The 33 year old E-Sports Champion is in the midst of an MVP season, and will likely miss the remainder of 2015.
"The timing couldn't be worse. Thankfully, we've got a lot of young guys in the locker room who are ready to step up. We have some of the best trainers in online gaming, and I'm just looking forward to putting a controller back into my hands next year."
Townsend plans to coach defense from the sidelines using a headset during his recovery. The team has already enlisted one of the top surgeons who has worked with several other professional athletes and remains confident that their star will return to form next season. Townsend stated he will be available to the public as he livestreams the physical therapy sessions during the offseason. - Brian Garthoff
