Indy developer Bob Gordon is building a reputation for trying to mash game genres that clash tremendously. His latest idea for a racing/survival horror title has industry colleagues scratching their heads in disbelief. The plot revolves around a driver who gets stuck on a haunted racetrack and tries to improve his vehicle by driving against ghost racers into the lake of fire whilst avoiding plagues of hellish maggot demons.
This is only the latest in a slew of confusing and unwanted game ideas for Gordon. Six months prior, he pitched a sports/rhythm game that required a complex sequence of timed dance steps to ensure the success of the various athletic maneuvers. Fellow developers knew they were in for trouble last year when Gordon's first ever game pitch was a tower defense simulator mashup that forced the player to wait as buildings were built in real-time, often taking multiple weeks for construction teams to assemble each structure. -Mike Burdette
